Between November 2021 and November 2022 I hosted 50 episodes of a weekly radio show called “Ocean of Sound” on WOOL-FM in Bellows Falls, VT. Each week there was a collection of songs centered on a theme. The episodes were titled after songs that would have fit the theme, but were not played on the show. What can I say, needlessly complicated naming conventions are the sort of thing I live for. Each week I created original bed music to talk over, and brought in some found sounds and vocal samples to mix in with the selection of songs. This included poems, interviews ripped off Youtube, plenty of Alan Watts and the occasional cricket.

None of the episodes were officially archived anywhere (there may be some unofficial archiving if you’re committed to some digital sleuthing), and instead I’m offering up all of the bed music and extra curricular sounds in a “Build Your Own Radio Show Kit”. This stuff is free to use for your own enjoyment. Below is a list of the episodes, and you can take a hack at putting together your own version with songs you’d pick. Or you can throw all that nonsense to the wind and do whatever you want. Come up with your own themes, just listen to the clips, or just listen to the music, or play the clips over the music, or think of something I haven’t. That’s probably the best option.
